Toy Room

The Toy Room contains toys dating from the 1850s through to the 1920s. The dolls are made of materials such as leather and cloth - the oldest are the dolls that are hand-sewn and have brown eyes.

The toy piano is dated 1872.

The ice skates are made of wood and leather.

Noah's Ark was a very popular toy for the boys. It was one of the few toys that was allowed to be played with on Sunday.

Many of the books and games were concerned with moral teaching, religion and etiquette.
