Reminiscences of Charles Fleming and Letter by David Gairdner
Charles Fleming wrote his reminiscences in 1907, but goes back to his father's arrival in Woodruff's Grove (Ypsilanti) - describes trials, privations, suffering of the pioneers. Gairdner writes to a Robert Campbell in Scotland describing the town, changes ("Now there is stores and groceries everywhere that luxury or fashion could think of") and describes his own farm.
